Liverpool and England fan Danny Phair from Hemel Hempstead will achieve a lifelong dream when he walks out onto the Wembley pitch this Saturday.
The 11-year-old from Warners End has been selected as a mascot for England's World Cup qualifier with Kazakhstan, and can't wait to walk out onto the world-famous pitch at the spiritual home of football.
"I'm very excited," said the JFK Year 7 pupil.
"I get to meet the players and get to walk out onto the grass - it's a dream come true."
Danny, who hopes to accompany favourite player Steven Gerrard, will be the envy of every football-loving kid thanks to his success in a competition run by the England Supporters' Club.
He was originally meant to be mascot for the game with Czech Republic on August 20 but was away on holiday.
He has been waiting patiently for this day for the last six weeks.
"When it was the summer holidays it felt like October 11 was never going to come," added Danny.
"And now it's only a couple of days away!"
The qualifier with Kazakhstan kicks off at 5.15pm and will be shown live on ITV1.
See hemeltoday and next week's Gazette to see how young Danny got on.
