Berkhamsted boy Tommy Smith could be on his way out of Watford after the club accepted a bid for him.
An offer of £1.8m has been made for the Hornets' double-winning player of the year from an un-named club, believed to be fellow Championship outfit Sheffield United.
Watford chairman Jimmy Russo said: "We've received a new bid today from Tommy and we will allow him to speak to the club in question. This is a new club that has expressed interest in Tommy.
Hemel Hempstead-born Smith, 29, has been the subject of intense speculation since being named The Championship's second best player at the end of the 2008/09 season.
Last season was his best in front of goal, with the midfielder netting 17 goals.
The former Derby man is a product of Watford's academy, and made his debut for the Golden Boys in November 1997.
Keep your eye on hemeltoday for the latest on the transfer.
