Micky Vipond has been sacked as manager of Leverstock Green after more than 20 years at the club as player and manager.
The decision was made by the club's committee on Wednesday April, 29 – three days before Green's St Mary's Cup final loss to Tring.
Vipond, who spent a total of 23 years at the Pancake Lane club during two separate spells, was told of the news on Thursday (May 7).
Chairman Bill Dawes, who is due to step down from his position later this month, was full of praise for a man he called 'a phenomenal servant to the club'.
Vipond himself was both gutted and confused at being let go by the club.
He said: "I have no idea why it happened and no idea if there is anybody in line to take my place."
For an explanation of his sacking from the club and a full reaction from Vipond see next week's Gazette.
