A Leverstock Green FC side suffered last-minute cup heartbreak for the third time this season.
Following the first team's last-gasp exit from both the FA Vase and FA Cup, Levy Youth were knocked out of the FA Cup on Thursday by Maldon Town.
Green can consider themselves unlucky to be knocked out at the qualifying stage, having conceded two
controversial goals and being denied a good shout for a penalty.
Keeper Matt Evans kept Green in the game with two one-on-one saves in the first 10 minutes, before Ben Davis, who had missed a headed chance minutes earlier, nodded Levy into the lead from a James Bundey cross on 21 minutes.
Gary Connolly went close to doubling the lead on 25 minutes with another aerial effort, while Davis was denied a good shout for a penalty five minutes before half time when he looked to have been barged over from behind in the Maldon area.
Maldon saw more of the ball in the second half and scored on 67 minutes - the referee waving away protests of offside after Joe Collins had slotted away a defence-splitting through ball.
Collins and Dan Ayden both missed chances to put Maldon ahead, while Green's best opportunity came a minute from time when Fraser Pain's header was cleared off the line.
With extra time looming Collins again found himself behind the Green defence and tucked the ball beyond Evans.
The assistant's flag stayed down, signalling the end of Leverstock Green's FA Cup dream for 2008.
