SUE MATTHEWS had two very good reasons to be
delighted recently as she struck double gold at the Southern Counties Archery Society Indoor Championships.
The Warners End resident produced some superb shooting to take both the
senior ladies longbow and recurve titles at the championships held at HMS Collingwood in Fareham, Hampshire.

Matthews came up against the cream of the 15 counties' archers but proved unbeatable over the weekend.

As well as her individual triumphs, she was also part of the winning longbow and recurve teams for her club, Beacon Archers.

"It's been a great year for me," she said

"I have been shooting my longbow for about four years and my recurve bow for about 18 months.

"I really love the sport and even opened my own archery business last year."
