MP Mike Penning joined in a skipping session with kids from all over Dacorum.
The Hemel Hempstead MP was joined by over 400 children from 12 different Dacorum schools taking part in a sports fayre organised by Dacorum School Sports Partnership.

All Year 2 pupils, the youngsters had the chance to take part in activities including Skip to be Fit, speed stacking, badminton, Fun Fit, multi skills, dance, Tri Golf and athletics.

Clare McCawley, who organised the event at Sportspace Hemel Hempstead, said: "The children all had a fantastic time, and enjoyed the different activities.

"It is also great that Mike supports these events and gets involved. It sends a positive message to all of us."

The children all went away with a fruit bag supplied by the partnership, blueberries from Skip to be Fit, and a participation certificate.

Olympic medalist Karen Pickering was present to celebrate the success of Dacorum pupils at the School Sports Partnership Awards evening last Tuesday.

The swimmer came to Cavendish School and presented awards to school teams, young leaders, school coaches, teaching staff and young achievers. She also made a speech to all those present.

"The evening was a huge success," Clare added. "It was a great opportunity to reward pupils and staff for the huge effort and commitment they have put into PE and school sport over the past year.

"We can only continue to build on these achievements, and I look forward to celebrating more successes next year."
