Letters of thanks have flooded in to Leverstock Green Ladies FC after they held their first football tournament.
Six sides from around the region came to Pancake Lane to take part in the seven-a-side competition which was eventually won by Baldock Town Ladies, with Levy Green three points behind in second.
It was organised by club secretary and chairman Kat
e Binns, who, despite the weather, was extremely pleased with how the day panned out.
"It went really well," she said. "All of the teams have said how much they enjoyed and that they'll be back again next year.
"The tournament was held in memory of Peter Metcalfe, who gave 38 years' service to the club.
"We played on his pride and joy—the pitch. It was through his management that it improved year after year, winning the club the league's best ground award on many occasions."
Alongside the football there were activities for youngsters which included a bouncy castle, face painting, hair braiding and a beat the goalie competition.
"There was lots of stuff for kids" Kate added. "It was all really friendly and was a fun day for everyone."
Levy Green Ladies are on the lookout for new players for the forthcoming season, with a new goalkeeper top of their shopping list.
Anybody who is interested in playing for the FA Charter Standard club and is over 16 on September 1 can email kate at Kate@leverstockgreenladiesfc.co.uk.
The team train every Wednesday from 6.30pm until 8pm and every Sunday from 5pm behind Leverstock Green shops.
