Saracens kick-started their home pre-season games with a victory over Perth based outfit, Western Force on Friday night.
New Director of Rugby Eddie Jones named a strong squad for the friendly despite missing a number of key players to the Middlesex Sevens the following day.
Former All-Black Chris Jack captained the side with many experienced heads also making the
starting line up.
Saracens started strongly with plenty of attacking runs seeking to pick out weaknesses in the Aussie defence.
They were rewarded when debutant Michael Owen barged over from a tap and go penalty to score under the posts, Jackson adding the conversion.
After some frantic opening minutes the pace of the game slowed as both teams sought to make ground through their tactical kicking.
Western Force scored a penalty from 20m out which fly half James O'Connor kicked with ease giving the Force their first points of the game.
The visitors started the second half well and the pressure told when some defensive mistakes by fullback Scarborough and young winger Noah Cato led to a try for the Force's new signing, Caleb Brown.
O'Connor struck the subsequent conversion to give his team the lead for the first time.
The increased speed of the second half led to another Saracens try when a series of probing runs from their 22 led to centre Adam Powell diving over the line to regain the lead.
Sarries scored another try minutes later when fly half Jackson threw a long missed pass which found his fellow kiwi Rod Penney in space to cross the line.
Jackson missed with his conversion but the tries were enough to give the home team a 19-10 win.
Saracens showed a strong all round game in their first pre-season, adapting well to the new Experimental Law Variations which Western Force had been playing under for a year.
A few small injuries were sustained with Andy Farrell suffering a possible dislocated thumb and Adam Powell entering the club rooms with strapping on his hand.
Saracens were in France taking on Toulon as the Gazette went to press.
Their first game of the Guinness Premiership season is on Saturday, September 6 at home to Harlequins.
