Olympian Andy Hunter from Potten End was unsuccessful in his bid for gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay in Beijing.

Hunter, 22, swam a time of 1.46.73 in his leg of the final, contributing to team GB's overall time of 7.05.92 and sixth place.

His four-man team had previously qualified from their heat in second place, just over three seconds behind the Americans.

The US went on to claim gold in the final with a time of 6.58.56.

Richard Charlesworth, from Hemel Hempstead, failed to qualify for the final of the 1500m freestyle, going out in the heat stages last Friday.
He came seventh overall with a time of 15:17.27.

The final was won by Tunisian Oussama Mellouli in a time of 14:40.84.
