Unsung heroes of sport in Hertfordshire are to be rewarded.
The Service to Sport Awards, which take place on Wednesday October 8, will recognise those across the county who help people take part in sport in their community.

Graham Keen, Sports Project Officer from the Herts Sports Partnership said: "Through the awards the Partnership rewards sports volunteers and clubs that deserve recognition for the time, effort and commitment they give to sport.

"This may be a coach, umpire or referee. It might be someone working behind the scenes looking after a website or acting as club secretary.

"It could also be a junior team player's mum or dad who washes team kit, drives the minibus to the match or makes post-match refreshments every week!

"All of these people are sports volunteers and all of them make a valuable contribution to making sport happen."
