Penalities ruined Leverstock Green Ladies' hope of claiming any silverware this season.
Their Beds and Herts League Cup final against Sherrardswood was goalless after 90 minutes on Sunday, and so both teams, fatigued by the intense heat, were forced into half an hour's extra time.

The standard remained high though, and only two fine saves from the Sherrardswood keeper kept Green from claiming what would have been a memorable victory.

But their opponents, who finished in fourth spot in the Beds and Herts County League, one place behind Leverstock, held out and went on to win on penalties.

The advantage swung back and forth during the spot-kicks, but it was Sherrardswood who took home the cup winning the shootout 3-2.
