Steve Bateman was left cursing a host of missed chances as Hemel Town crashed out of the FA Cup to lower league opposition.
The Tudors failed to take their chances against Ryman Isthmian Football League side Ware at Vauxhall Road on Saturday, and eventually lost 2-1.
It was the first time Hemel had conceded two goals in any game this season.
"We had chances early
on," said Bateman. "We didn't take them and got punished.
"On the day I was disappointed with a few individual performances, but really we were beaten by two wonder strikes.
"It was a good cup tie. I'm bitterly disappointed but we are going to bounce back from it."
Bateman's side had several first half chances which alone could have put the game beyond Ware's reach - Chris Marsh wasted two one-on-one opportunities with visiting keeper Richard Hayward, while both Chris Herron and Steve Wales spurned their openings.
The visitors always looked the more threatening in front of goal, however. John Frendo shot wide and Kaan Fehmi forced Ian Brown into a fine save within the first ten minutes.
In fact it took two wonder strikes to see off a lacklustre Hemel side, the first scored by Fehmi 13 minutes in - he found space on the edge of the area to slot home into the far corner.
The second came 13 minutes from time as Ware skipper Paul Burton unleashed an unstoppable 25 yard screamer past Brown to send Ware through to the next round, and condemn Hemel to defeat.
Sandwiched in between was Hemel's consolation which came three minutes after the opener. A slice of fortune came the home side's way in the form of Chris Dillon's mis-hit shot, which found its way under both keeper and defender to put the Tudors level.
Bateman revealed afterwards that he is still looking to bring in a couple of players to strengthen his squad.
"I'm expecting to add another midfielder and maybe another striker after losing Harry Hunt, but they have got to be the right people," he added.
"We have made an offer for a midfielder and are waiting for the process to go through, so watch this space."
After suffering the disappointment of crashing out of the cup, Bateman is now looking to get his team focused on the job in hand - a good performance in the BGBFL Premier Division.
"Now it's about getting our heads down, getting as many points on the board and improving our league position," said Bateman.
"We want to build a strong platform for the rest of the season."
The Tudors have a chance to get back on track in a league game at Stourbridge this Saturday.
