A golfing superstar at only eight years old, Hannah Screen from Chesham Road, Berkhamsted, has won a place at two major national tournaments in just three days.
The St Thomas Moore School pupil won the British Junior Golf Tour London Region Academy order of merit, notching up a total of three wins and two runner-ups in her six matches played this summer.

Her superb summer record secured her a semi final tee time last Tuesday at Hoebridge Golf Club in Surrey, where she excelled with a round of 77, which included a brilliant 25ft putt on the 18th hole.

The semi final performance ensured her a place at the two day grand final, which will be held at the 2010 Ryder Cup Venue, Celtic Manor in Newport.

"I'm very pleased," said Hannah. "I'm really nervous about the final but really excited as well. I think i could win it but i've got to beat one other girl who is quite good. I do have a chance of beating her though."

As if getting through to the grand final wasn't enough for young Hannah, two days later she won the PING Young Masters regional qualifier tournament at Amida Golf, Twickenham, to book her place in another national final, this time in Shropshire in October.

The putting prodigy has she been constantly encouraged and supported by her dad Nik, and now has long list of golfing heroes which includes Melissa Reid, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose and Paul Casey.

She first picked up a golf club aged only 18 months, and is holding out hope of one day becoming professional.

But like a true professional, she is taking it one step at a time.
"I would like to become a golfer one day," she added. "But at the moment I need to concentrate on what I'm doing now."

To find out how Hannah does in the grand finals see next week's Gazette.
