Grove Road won Tring Primary Schools Swimming Gala in a very exciting and close fought gala held at Tring Pool on Wednesday 7th May.
Grove Road Primary School narrowly edged out Bishop Wood and Long Marston to claim the Tring Primary School Gala Trophy. Eight swimmers from years 5 and 6 represented their schools across races in Butterfly, Breastroke, Backstroke and Freestyle, and Free and Medley relays.

Also competing were Dundale, St.Barts and Aldbury schools.

The winning team were Xanthe Christie, Aida Finn, Lucy Scott, Morgan Rota, Charles Bose, James Lovis, Sam Murcott and Ben Murcott.
The gala hasn't run for several years, but was restarted following discussions between Tring Swimming Club, Dacorum School Sports Partnership and Tring School, who are looking for ways to get more young children involved in regular sport.

The gala was organised jointly by the club and school, with Year 10 students on Tring Schools Sports Leadership scheme attending to timekeep and marshall the swimmers.

Clare McCawley, the Dacorum School Sports Partnership Development Manager, attended to present the trophy, donated by Tring Swimming Club.

The gala was a great success, enjoyed by swimmers and spectators alike, and will now become an annual event. Any young swimmers in the Tring area wanting to develop their skills are invited to join Tring Swimming Club – full details can be found on the club website at www.tringswimmingclub.co.uk or on the noticeboard at Tring Sports Centre.
