Senior Golfers at Little Hay have a chance to mark their 20th year in style.
A team of eight will be one of three teams playing at the national final of the Mitchell-Thomson Trophy on Monday, with hopes of bringing the cup back to Bovingdon.

This is the first year that the seniors have taken part in the competition, and h
ave done well even to reach this far.

Led by their vice-captain David Garbutt, they have had to battle their way through four rounds of regional competition en route to the final.

Senior men's captain John Poston is chuffed with the team's progress.

"We have done extremely well beating clubs from all around the North and East of London," said John.

"We have been playing clubs we don't normally play, with half of the matches away meaning we have won at courses that are completely new to us.

"I'm very pleased we have got to the final three."

The competition is played in the Stableford format, meaning matches are played in pairs with players taking alternate shots.

"Frankly we have got a very good team and they have gelled together well," John added.

"I'm very hopeful they will come away with the trophy."

The club has had lots of senior success in the ladies' and men's team and individual national events.

Paul Kvoch, a member of Little Hay, is in this year's UK individual final at St Andrews in September.

To find out how the senior team get on at the national final see next week's Gazette.
