Ju-Jitsu has arrived in Hemel Hempstead.
Headed by Sensei Mark Thomas, Ishin Ryu Ju-Jitsu is giving grapplers of all ages the chance to learn have fun and keep fit learning the martial art.
"It's not just the fact you are learning a martial art there's a big social side to it too," Mark said.
"We are always doing things—putting on fetes, fairs and demonstrations.
"On a personal note I'm asthmatic and it's helped a lot with that. It's a great way for kids and adults to start a fitness regime and from a self defence point of view it's very important."
The school was officially opened last Wednesday with a typical training session hosted by the club's founder and chief instructor Kevin Pell followed by a sushi buffet with sake and champagne.
Ishin Ryu Ju-Jitsu will be training at Hemel Hempstead Sports Centre every Wednesday evening under the eye of Mark. who is black belt second dan.
An infant class for five to eight year olds will take place between 5 and 5.45 before the junior class, for eight to 12-year-olds, happens from 6pm until 7.00pm.
Intermediates between 13 and 16 will train between 7.00pm and 8.00pm before the senior class, suitable for anyone aged 16 or over, runs from 8.00pm and 10.00pm.
