Tony Fields made it a magnificent seven on Saturday.

The Berkhamsted captain hit his sixth and seventh goals of the season during his side's 3-0 win at Cockfosters, much to the delight of joint-boss Rob Butler.

"He's the experienced one in the team," said Butler. "He's doing well scoring lots of goals from midfield.

"We are always going to score goals it's just making sure we don't concede too many."

Butler and fellow boss Ian Richardson rang in the changes after last week's embarrassing 7-2 defeat to Chalfont St Peter, bringing Matt Gunary and Jack Denham back into the defence.

The Lilywhites looked stronger at the back and more menacing in attack with Wayne Barber and Ben Butler both going close early on.

Butler put Berko ahead in the first half with an audacious 25-yard lob, and Tony Fields made it two when he latched onto Ashley Addison's deep deceiving cross to head into an empty net.

Sean Biswell was taken off just before the break with an ankle injury and was replaced by Gareth Aldridge.

Substitute Aldridge, Addison and Alex McCarthy all went close in the opening minutes of the second half, but it was Fields who sealed all three points for Berko.

Aldridge found the experienced midfielder with his corner, and he stabbed the ball over the line to put Berko three up.

The visitors brought on new signings Dean Janaway, bought from Hemel, and Perry Gilbert, the latter only remaining on the pitch for a matter of minutes as he saw red for an off-the-ball incident.

The win moved Berko back up to seventh in the league table where they are the leading scorers averaging three goals per game.

"I thought we were very god," said Rob Butler.

"We had two players back in defence and it made all the difference.
"We spotted what the defence did wrong against Chalfont, told them what we wanted them to do and they did it."

On Saturday the Lilywhites go to unbeaten Aylesbury Vale in search of more league points and play Brimsdown Rovers in the Challenge Trophy next Tuesday.
