Fair play rewarded with day at academy

With the start of the new youth football season approaching, Hemel Town under 12s have had the the perfect preparation.

The squad of youngsters spent a day at the David Beckham Academy in London alongside players from across the county, taking part in mini world cup tournaments.

Team manager Mick Catchpole said: "I am very proud of my boys. They all work very hard and its nice for them to have the opportunity to vist such a fantastic place.

"The Academy is very professional and the facilities are top drawer - it is a great day for players and parents.

The boys got the chance to attend the academy thanks to their performance at a football festival in Skegness, where they won the David Beckham Fairplay award.

As well as testing their skills against the county's best, the under 12s had the chance to see shirts and boots belonging to David Beckham and other world-famous players.

Manager Mick added: "I would like to thank everyone at the Academy and all the boys and parents for making Saturday a Truly memorable day."
