Cash-strapped motor racing team Super Aguri have pulled out of this year's Formula One World Championship, leaving Anthony Davidson without a racing team.

The Hemel Hempstead-born driver faces an uncertian future after Honda, who provided some crucial funds for the team, decided to pull the money.

Team founder Aguri Suzuki broke the news in Japan saying: "Regretfully I must inform you that the team will be ceasing racing activities. The loss of financial backing put the team into financial difficulties.

"The change of direction of the environment surrounding the team, in terms of the use of customer chassis, has also affected our ability to find partners.

"With the help of Honda, we have somehow managed to keep the team going, but we find it difficult to establish a way to continue the activities in the future so I have concluded to withdraw."

The Japanese team have been struggling for survival since April following the collapse of a takeover bid from the Dubai-based Magma Group.

Honda provided an emergency cash injection which allowed Super Aguri to race in the Spanish Grand Prix on April 27, but no longer wants to divert cash away from its own racing team.

Davidson, 29, failed to finish in the Spanish race echoing his performance in the first race in Austrailia, but finished 15th in the Malaysian GP and 16th in Bahrain.

Mr Suzuki, 47, paid tribute to Davidson and to everyone who has supported his team in their two year stint in motor racing.

He said: "I would like to express my deepest thanks to Honda, Bridgestone, the sponsors, and all the team staff who have kept their motivations high and always done their best.

"Also Takuma Sato who has been with us from the very start and Anthony Davidson who has always pushed to the limit despite the very difficult conditions."
