The Hertfordshire County Squash Championship, is back in Berkhamsted, after a gap of eight years.
Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis and Squash Rackets Club clinched the title last Thursday with a 5 - 0 win over rivals Harpenden.
Captained ably throughout the season by club number two, Shorts Rickard, the team has been at the top of the table since the b
eginning of the season last October.
They have proved themselves to be a highly resilient outfit, seeing off challenges from larger clubs such as Broxbourne and Bishops Stortford along the way.
"I am delighted with the result and the spirit that we have shown this season", said Shorts.
"Berkhamsted is a fantastic squash club and I am sure that we can use this victory to move on to even better things".
Club chairman, Simon Andrews, was full of praise for the team.
"Shorts has been a fantastic captain and the team has never let him down," said a proud Andrews.
"This year, for the first time, we have had a sponsor, Oakleys Estate Agents, and I am very pleased for them that we have been so successful in their first year."
Andrews also felt that he should single out one player, Richard Carr.
"Despite being the oldest member of the team by a considerable margin, he was the best performing player across all Herts league divisions during the season," beamed the chairman.
The Berkhamsted team comprised Adam Fuller (club number one), Rickard, Ali Coker, Pete Cheshire (club coach), Carr, Keith Farnham, Alex Gillespie, Ollie Cowper and Niall Frost.
And there has been more good news for the club as the second team have gained promotion to the elite first division.
The club now hopes to follow on this successful season with more good results in the coming summer matches.
