'More to come' says Bateman

Hemel Hempstead Town boss Steve Bateman was 'bitterly disappointed' at his side's latest result.

The Tudors now sit in seventh position in the league after a 1-1 draw at home to Halesowen.

"I'm bitterly disappointed with the final outcome" said Bateman. "We did enough over 90 minutes to beat them."

Former Tudor Dean Brennan fired Halesowen ahead just before the half hour mark in what was a fairly even first half.

He smashed a free kick into the far corner to put his side one up, and should have doubled the lead shortly afterwards, but he shot straight at home keeper Ian Brown when clean through.

The Tudors looked like more dangerous opposition in after the break, and equalised after only nine minutes of second half play.

Gary Sippetts robbed Halesowen's Michael Briscoe to set up Wales for a cool finish at the far post.

That began a period of home pressure punctuated by the occasional breakaway from the visitors.

Wales went close minutes later, and Harry Hunt hit his shot straight at the keeper when he should have put in either of the unmarked Chris Dillon and Adam Martin.

Despite Hemel's dominance Jermaine Palmer continued to threaten the home side, before a manic last five minutes came close to providing a winner.

Halesowen stopper Nick Bussey had to be alert to keep out Steve Sinclair's low drive, and although he was at fault for not keeping out John Stevenson's lobbed pass, the goal was chalked off for a foul on the keeper.

In injury time Hemel were reduced to ten men when Mark Coulson was sent off for a foul on Mark Danks.

But that wasn't the end of the action as Brown was called upon one final time, the young keeper managing to smother the ball after a mad scramble just in front of his line.

Hemel now sit in seventh position with five games played, three points behind league-leaders Farnborough. And Bateman believes we have not seen the best of his side as of yet.

"I think there's a lot more to come from us and hopefully that will come out over the next few games," said the Tudors' boss.

Hemel travel to Corby town on Wednesday before Saturday's league game at Rugby Town.
