An Olympic squad could be on its way to Dacorum after announcing it will use Hertfordshire's facilities leading for the London 2012 games.
The British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee announced it will use the county's pre-games training camps in the lead up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

With the nation squad planning to compete in athletics, it could be that Sportspace Hemel Hempstead will play host to them, and could benefit to the tune of up to £25,000 which is given to each committee to improve their chosen facilities.

Councillor Derrick Ashley, Hertfordshire County Council's Champion for the 2012 Games and Executive Member for Planning, said:"Each nation that chooses our pre-games training camps will be spending up to £25,000 in Hertfordshire, which is good news.

"In addition, we will be looking to make school and community links with the British Virgin Islands long after the Games have finished.

"We look forward to welcoming the British Virgin Islands team to Hertfordshire very soon."

There are a total of 17 training venues in Hertfordshire, two of which are in Dacorum.

The other is Sapphire School of Gymnastics, which is also in Hemel Hempstead.
