Published Date: 02 January 2008
Nominated by Penny Hackett
Modest 78-year-old fundraiser Molly Martin says the people who donate to her collections are more deserving of the community's pride then she is.

But anyone who has spotted Molly using her zimmer frame to collect money for Oxfam on the streets of Little Gaddesden and Ringshall would probably disagree.

And few can say they generate money for charity by selling eggs in the local village laid by their own hens, as she does.

Molly has given her time to Oxfam for more than 25 years, facing all weathers to knock on people's doors with a collection bucket.

Put forward for People's Pride by Penny Hackett, who described her nominee as "a wonderful lady," Molly helped to collect more than £1000 in Little Gaddesden this year that Oxfam will use to provide clean water to people in developing countries.
