Year 3 and 4 pupils from Bishop Wood CofE Junior School in Tring got the chance to perform in a concert at St Albans Abbey as part of the chorister outreach programme, which is a collaboration between the abbey and the Hertfordshire Music Service.

The programme encourages children in Key Stage 2 to enjoy singing at school, and involves a member of the Hertfordshire Music Service spending half a day a week with the pupils.

Rufus Frowde, a member of the Hertfordshire Music Service, had been visiting the school and helping the children prepare one morning a week since Easter. All their hard work culminated in a very well-attended concert.

The youngsters performed songs Good News by Willi Gohl, Little One by Charles Beale and Steve Milloy, and finally a Polish sailor’s song Plynie Statek. The children were joined by others from schools in Long Marston, Aldbury and St Albans.

Deputy head Jon Hall said: “The children very much enjoyed themselves and a very high standard was achieved.”
