Welcoming new space for youth counselling charity

The rooms, on the top floor of The Gables, in Hemel’s Old Town, have been designed to provide a comfortable, welcoming space for young people to receive support to help them through their problems.

The charity, formerly known as Urban Access, has been operating out of Hemel for nearly 30 years.

Manager William Allen said: “For years we have muddled through using whatever rooms we could find, so it is great to be able to work from rooms which are fit for purpose. I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in creating such a fantastic new space.”

As well as creating an additional counselling room, Signpost can at last offer young people a waiting area.

The improved facilities were officially opened by Richard Roberts, Herts County Council’s cabinet lead for children’s services.

Signpost received £2,400 from Box Moor Trust to carry out the two-month project.

Retailer HomeSense also donated £500 of furnishings.
