Wat-er great example of pavement art!

Leon’s visit was funded by Affinity Water and he astounded people with 3D masterpieces as part of the Marlowes May Day.

The event, from 11am to 3pm, also saw families enjoy a mobile farm, maypole dancing and entertainer Mr Marvel.

It was also a great opportunity to see first-hand what the council’s Hemel Evolution regeneration programme has already achieved, despite building works being being scheduled to finish until the autumn.

More of the new pedestrianised shopping area improvements were open for a special preview, including three of the four new ‘play-on-the-way’ areas. Children enjoyed, playing pretend shops at the little kiosk in the red area, balancing on the tightrope in the green area and climbing on the brightly coloured spheres in the blue area.

David Robinson, centre manager at Riverside Shopping Centre, said: “This May Day bank holiday gave a taster of the types of activities shoppers can look forward to as the regeneration of the town nears completion.”
