An unexploded bomb has been removed from a home in Hemel Hempstead.

Homes opposite Astley Cooper school were evacuated after the item, described by police as suspected “explosive device”, was found in an outside cupboard.

The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were called to assess the device before removing it from the address in The Wye, and all cordons have now been lifted.

It is believed that the item was a First World War shell.
