Try a haunting tale played for festive laughs

Alan Aykbourn’s work is a favourite of drama groups up and down the country – and with the season to be merry just around the corner, one of the Scarborough scribe’s works with a Christmas theme is an ideal choice for the Pendley Theatre Company’s next presentation.

Life & Beth, which goes on stage at the Court Theatre next week, is directed by Sandy Hollinsworth-Turner and has echoes of Abigail’s Party crossed with Blithe Spirit.

Newly-widowed Beth Timms is facing up to the stresses and strains of the festive season but her dysfunctional family is rallying round to support her.

And they include her health and safety officer husband, who just happens to be dead!

The show runs from next Wednesday, December 5 until Saturday, and tickets priced £9 to £12 are available from the box office on 07543 560 478, online at www.courttheatre.co.uk or Beechwood Fine Foods in Frogmore Street, Tring (cash or cheque only).
