A teenager from Flaunden is to travel to South America on a conservation project.

Steven Duncan, 17, is off to Costa Rica where he is going to work in the High School Specials Care and Conservation project for two weeks.

Steven, from Flaunden House, Flaunden, is going to be a volunteer with global volunteering organisation, Projects Abroad.

Steven said: “This is a big challenge for me personally. I really hope my trip is a big success.”

Peter Slowe, director of Projects Abroad, said: “We are really pleased Steven is doing this. Costa Rica destination is looking forward very much to meeting him – and they definitely want him to bring some pictures of Hemel Hempstead with him.”

For more than 20 years Projects Abroad have been experts in volunteering abroad, work experience and gap year placements.

Founded in 1992, the organisation has now sent over 50,000 volunteers from all walks of life to volunteer projects in the developing world.
