Show gets to art of the matter
HERTS Visual Arts Forum is calling for professional and amateur artists, designers and craftspeople to take part in the county's biggest annual art event Herts Open Studios.
Since it established with 17 exhibitions in 1991, Herts Open Studios has grown into a popular late summer event with some 200 artists throughout Hertfordshire taking part.
Artists who would like to show their work have until Wednesday, March 31 to register.
The event, which runs from September 11 to October 3 this year, is a unique opportunity for participating artists to open up their studios to the public.
As well as buying pieces, people can meet the artists and see firsthand how the works are created.
Last year some artists did demonstrations while others engaged visitors in having a go themselves.
From July, 25,000 colour brochures with artist details and directions to the studios will be distributed to libraries, galleries, theatres, tourist information offices and art shops.
Herts Visual Arts Forum (HVAF) gives artists a voice within the community, while encouraging them to establish professional structures and contacts
To register for the open studios or to become a member of HVAF visit www.hvaf.org.uk or contac coordinator Lind Warminger on 07813 100651.
