Seven year campaign to get street light working
9/1/12 Edward Perry and the disfunctional lampost in Spring Lane Hemel Hempstead.
DISABLED Edward Perry has been campaigning for seven years to get a street light outside his home switched on.
The 68 year old first reported the faulty lampost outside his Spring Lane home in Warners End, Hemel Hempstead, to Herts County Council in November 2005. He has made several follow up calls since - the last one was on December 14.
Herts County Councillor Stuart Pile, who oversees highways and transport, said: “Engineers have visited the street light and have identified the need for a new service cable to be installed. This work will be undertaken as soon as the cable is available which should be in the next four weeks.”
The council declined to comment on why it has taken so long to repair the light.
Broken or flickering street lamps can be reported at www.hertsdirect.org/highwayfaults

Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 10:59 AMBit pointless now as most lights will be turned off between midnight and 6am. Mind you it doesn't say anything about GMT and BST and doing a rough count on the map, it's nearer 90% than the 75% quoted here in sunny Berko. It's also scheduled for winter 2011spring 2012 with any comments requested by 20th January 2012. No, I didn't just make it up.
