Schools’ hair and beauty show

Astley Cooper School’s 2nd Hair and Beauty Show was delivered by 110 students from Astley Cooper, Adeyfield, Cavendish, Longdean and Woodfield schools, all studying Hair and Beauty at Astley Cooper School for their City and Guilds qualification.

The theme of the first half of the show was “The Circus of Curiosity”.

Year 10 and 11 students provided the catwalk with a colourful array of the weird and wonderful Ringmasters, Dancing girls, Animals and Bearded Ladies, all created using face paint, special effects and creative hair techniques.

In the second half Year 12 students created an elaborate Mad Hatters tea party with hats handmade from hair.

Guest judges on the evening were, Alison Atkinson, Chair of Examiners and Principle Moderator for City and Guilds, Jo Bifolco Hair and Beauty tutor, Chessbrook School and Jacqui van Loen Subject Leader ICT, Business and Enterprise, Astley Cooper School.

Alison Atkinson, said “the creativity shown by the students was immense and the pride on their faces as they walked down the catwalk was quite emotive”.

Year 10

1st prize Emma Staines, Astley Cooper – The Zebra

2nd prize Karis Lambert- Marranzini, Astley Cooper – The Medusa

3rd prize Jody Lee, Astley Cooper – The Candy Skull

Year 11

1st prize Ellie Smith, Cavendish – The Ring Master

2nd prize Lucy Chessher, Adeyfield – The Dancing girl

3rd prize Lucie Hutchins, Cavendish – The Medusa

Year 12

1st prize Helen Connors Astley Cooper – The Mad Hatter
