Two women from Hemel Hempstead have completed one of the biggest and hardest off-road marathons in the UK.
Carol Macdonald and Sandra Mogan took part in the infamously difficult Eastbourne Beachy Head Marathon on Saturday, October 24, and were representing Tring Running Club.
Both managed to get personal best times from previous years, with Carol finishing in 5hr 52mins, and Sandra just ahead at 5hr 40mins.
The marathon, formerly the Seven Sisters, takes in stunning scenery over the hills, the Scouth Downs and the famous Beachy Head at the 18-mile point.
It was also Sandra’s second marathon in two weeks as she completed the York Marathon on the October 11.
The women have been training around Ashridge with plenty of miles done up and down Ivinghoe Beacon and included local races such the Dunstable 20-miler which goes over the Downs to Whipsnade and back.
