Children from Micklem Primary School took part in the opening ceremony of the Under 23 World Ultimate Championships.

Ultimate is a high-energy field sport played by two teams of seven. The aim is for a team to pass the disc from player to player up the field, and catch the disc in their end-zone, which scores a point.

The championships, run by the World Flying Disc Federation, saw teams and fans from over 21 countries converge at the Watford FC training ground on Sunday, July 12.

After the teams had marched out on to the pitch, they took their seats alongside their family and fans from all over the globe, to watch Year 6 Micklem children take on a school from Reading.

After the game, players from countries including Japan, New Zealand and the USA all asked to have pictures taken with the Micklem pupils.
