Public warned to think carefully before buying a Christmas animal
Animals are not toys. Please don't buy them as Christmas presents. The interest flags after the first day or two when the work involved becomes apparent and then the trouble starts.
The rescue homes are already full to bursting with rejected pets, but they are the lucky ones.
Other animals are thrown out into freezing winter conditions that they don't know how to cope with, others are passed on to other people who don't want them either; yet others are simply killed behind closed doors.
This year let's enjoy a cruelty-free Christmas and if you really do want a companion animal then consult your local rescue centre after Christmas and consider the implications
