A Markyate mum has fulfilled her ambition of becoming an author, after having her children’s book published

Suzan Moule said: “I am absolutely ecstatic. I sent it to a few publishing houses and didn’t really expect even a reply, as I know how hard it is to get work published.

“So when Olympia came back to me saying they deemed it very worthy of publication and they wanted to go ahead and publish it for me, it made me cry. I am absolutely delighted to know others love and believe in my work. It’s such a great feeling.”

Suzan’s book, Woody’s Park, is centred around a pretty village park where Woody the dog goes for walks to meet his tree friends that live there, along with the other little animals that visit, and the adventures they all have together throughout the changing seasons.

The book’s lead character is based on Suzan’s own much-loved, elderly black Labarador, also called Woody.

Suzan said: “Woody loves to sit and watch the little animals scurrying by or the children playing and we often find a little bench in the corner of the park or woodlands where he can sit and do just that.”

Suzan hopes her book will encourage children to get outside in the fresh air and enjoy the parks and woodlands on offer to them. It’s also meant to be a cosy bedtime book.

Being in the limelight is a new sensation for Suzan, who is more used to her son getting all the media attention.

Jack Moule, a successful stuntman and champion jet skier, said: “I’m so happy for Mum. Dad and I encouraged her to try and get Woody’s Park published, as we knew it was such a good read and children would really love it.

“She has always been there for me and helped, supported and encouraged my career, and it’s so lovely to see her achieve her dream too.

“She deserves it.”
