A party was hosted by the Redbourn Care Group to thank volunteers for their hard work and gift of time to help others.

The occasion at St Mary’s church hall also celebrated the retirement of office manager and trustee, Jane Spreull, who has given 17 years loyal service, looking after the administrative needs of the office as well as recruiting and organising volunteers.

In recognition of her dedication, Jane was presented with flowers and an engraved glass mantle clock by the chairman, Barry Welch. He said: “Jane has done a fantastic job over the years and has been the focal point for the delivery of valued services to our many clients. As she retires from this pivotal role, Jane will continue to be an asset to Redbourn Care Group, driving people to medical appointments and helping one morning each fortnight to answer the many calls for help.”

The charity has more than 110 volunteer members, and Barry also made an appeal for other residents to come forward to help.

He said “As a charity, we rely on the good will of local able people to become members and help us achieve our goals. Both car and minibus drivers are always needed, as are people with office and communication skills. Please call our office any weekday morning after 9.30am if you are interested in being part of our great success story.”
