Hertfordshire’s growing Segway Polo community is looking for Segway enthusiasts to trial the sport at its newest location with Sportspace at Tring School, from 1pm to 2pm on Sunday, October 11.

The ‘Famous Five’ team, consisting of Hemel family Steve Day, Lyn Marsden-Day and son Jamie Day, had played only handful of times before competing in the UK’s National Friendly Tournament in Bristol last month.

Steve said: “It really is easy to master and, with practice, players can feel quite competitive against even those who’ve played for a long time.

“We’re looking for a couple more permanent members of our team, and other teams to play against in Tring.

“If anyone is interested in discovering how to use a mallet and a Segway, they’d be most welcome to join us on Sunday to see if this hockey-cum-polo style game is for them. Many of the players that gather once per month in Tring can either enjoy this activity as something fun and different to do, or they can take it more seriously and join tournaments throughout the UK and further afield. “
