A litterbug has been successfully prosecuted for flytipping in Dacorum, thanks to the borough council’s environmental enforcement team.
Edward John Connelly of Hemel Hempstead was fined £180, as well as £150 legal costs a £20 victim surcharge, for dumping boiler lagging and other packaging on National Trust land in Hudnall Common, Little Gaddesden.
Mr Connelly pleaded guilty to dumping waste illegally at Watford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, after having denied the act when interviewed by Dacorum Borough Council environment officers.
The local authority’s regulatory services team leader Nicholas Egerton said: “We take the issue of flytipping very seriously.
“I hope this prosecution sends a clear message to people – make sure you dispose of waste legally and responsibly and always use a registered waste carrier.”
Flytipping remains a concern in the borough, with numerous illegal waste dumping incidents across Dacorum reported already this year.
