A town centre ice cream parlour will host two free taster sessions between 6pm and 7.30pm next Wednesday to promote its new take-away tubs.
Mike Garraway, the owner of Scoops in Berkhamsted – hopes the one-litre containers will be a shot in the arm for winter-time trading.
Mr Garraway said: “It is tough during the winter months, but our best trading week was in the last week of March this year.”
But although the weather was good then, having one of the wettest summers on record this year didn’t help his trade.
Scoops first opened in August 2010. Mr Garraway said: “It was very much a gamble, just thinking opening an ice cream shop about as far away from the coast as you can get.”
It now has more than 30 flavours of gelato ice cream – made in small batches in-house.
Mr Garraway said: “It is not the cheapest way of making ice cream, but it is the tastiest.”
The new take-away tubs will cost between £7 and £8.25.
