The Collett School’s fundraising bid needs business backing

A school’s forward-thinking initiative to bring in cash to help improve what’s on offer to pupils has so far failed to attract any business backers.

The Collett School, which teaches children with learning difficulties, is challenging companies to turn £100 into £1,000 to drum up funds for expansion plans.

But so far no firms have stepped forward to take on the challenge, despite the Hemel Hempstead school hosting a coffee morning to promote the scheme.

If it gets off the ground, the fundraiser will run throughout April, May and June.

The school in Lockers Park Lane firstly want to create a new classroom that will also be a sensory room and is expected to cost around £12,000. There are also plans to build a house where children can learn life skills, a tree house classroom and an artisan centre.
