Families are being reminded that free monthly kids clubs are still taking place in Hemel Hempstead’s Marlowes Shopping Centre.
The Snapperjaxx offering, which runs on the second Sunday of every month, was brought back to the town centre mall this year after a successful first visit last autumn.
But while many mums and dads are still taking up the chance to break from shopping while their little ones are entertained, there are concerns numbers are starting to drop off.
On Sunday budding knaves and princesses took part in the Knight’s Tale-themed club, and were tasked with rescuing a prince from a dragon-guarded tower.
The next event, called Up, Up and Away!, takes place on Sunday, July 13 and will take children on a fantastical flying adventure with everything from imaginary hot airballooning to aeroplane wing-walking. Children aged four to 11 can take part in the hourly sessions running from 11am to 4pm.
The Marlowes has recently seen brands investing in the mall with two of its existing shops – Clintons card store and Warren James jewellers – undergoing a refit. Just last Friday The Perfume Shop relocated to a larger unit next door and now boasts a wider range of fragrances as well as a bigger, brighter browsing space.
Bonnie Haigh, who has been store manager at The Perfume Shop for four years, said: ‘It’s great to be moving into a larger, cleaner and more modern store that will be able to provide our customer with greater choice and promotions.”
> At the other end of the town centre, Riverside Shopping Centre will be spreading the World Cup football fever with a Father’s Day-themed penalty shoot-out on Saturday. Dads and their kids can beat the goalie to win a prize hamper between 11am and 3pm.
