Protesting parents who are angry about plans to close their children’s school have erected a huge sign that slams the governors who want to ‘sell it for housing development’.
It has been reported that the decision to shut Francis House Preparatory School was only announced to staff on the afternoon that it was leaked to this website
Parents were informed by post the next day about what was to happen.
Parents of children at the school have set up a group called the Saviours of Francis House to try and stop the plan to close the school in December.
They recently erected a sign to aid their cause, which they attached beneath the road sign pointing in the direction of the school.
It said: “SAVE Francis House Preparatory School. GOVERNORS: Selling School for HOUSING DEVELOPMENT!”
It also listed the email address for the Saviours: firstname.lastname@example.org, their Twitter account: @SaveFrancisHouse, and yet-to-be-launched website: www.savefrancishouse.co.uk
There are 126 children at the school and 40 staff.
Although many have been sympathetic to the Saviours on Facebook and Twitter, vandals saw the sign merely as a new place to scribble their graffiti.
Within hours of its appearance, it had been covered in a messy scrawl of black spray paint – but the sign has since been cleaned up and looks brand new again.
