The aim of the day, organised by Inspiring the Future, was to raise the aspirations of girls and young women and break down gender stereotypes about the sector.

After an opening speech by Inspiring Women Champion Miriam Gonzalez, the girls met senior women executives from companies within the industry, including Bentley, McLaren, Audi and BMW.

Students Emma, Faye, Abby, Tallula, Jade, Eavan and Phillipa, who will be studying for their GCSEs over the next year, heard from the executives how they had worked hard for success, focusing on teamwork and overcoming challenges.

They also heard that, while exam results can open doors, it is attitude rather than grades which will help them succeed.

The seven students have all have shown initiative and talent in subjects such as electronics or resistant materials or been involved in the school’s electric car project.
