There is a night-time closure of the A414 North Orbital Road (westbound) between London Colney Roundabout /A5183 Watling Street Roundabout on Wednesday, February 17 to prepare for resurfacing works later this year.

Additional patching and sealing works will be carried out (eastbound) with a lane closure between London Colney Roundabout and A5183 Watling Street Roundabout. The closures will take place between 9pm and 5am. A signed alternative route will be in place.

Access to properties during the working hours will be maintained and controlled by gatemen at each end of the closure, but there may be delays.

Main resurfacing work is due to start on Monday, May 23 and is programmed to take five days to complete.

Twenty-four hour lane closures will be required to ensure the safety of both the workforce and members of the public.

Roadworks, which are weather-dependent and carried out by Kiely Bros, will cost £87,000.

Terry Douris, cabinet member for Highways, said: “These works form part of Hertfordshire County Council’s on-going commitment to maintain and improve our roads for the benefit of all road users in Hertfordshire.

“We appreciate that these works are likely to cause some inconvenience to motorists and would ask everyone for their co-operation and patience while the work is in progress.”

Any changes to the proposed start date, duration or working hours will be announced on the information boards on site and will be available at www.hertfordshire.roadworks.org
