Put on your funky footwear for hospice charity

Rennie Grove Hospice Care is urging local schools to sign up to Rennie Groovy Shoes Day on Friday, June 24.

Kids are invited to find their funkiest footwear or pimp their plimsolls to create the grooviest shoes going. The idea is to donate £1 to show off their stylish shoes and help raise funds for Rennie Grove’s specialist services in patients’ homes and at Grove House.

Last year 19 schools in Herts and Bucks took part, raising nearly £4,400 between them for the charity which provides specialist responsive 24/7 Hospice at Home care for adults and children in Herts and Bucks, plus a range of otherservices such as a day hospice and nurse clinics at Grove House in St Albans.

Community fundraising manager Nicola MacKinnon said: “It would be great to get more schools involved in this year’s initiative and see if we can top last year’s total.”
