Herts Police have this morning dismissed overnight rumours of a murder in Hemel Hempstead and revealed a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to produce a controlled drug.

Responding to rumours that started on social networking site Twitter on Wednesday evening, a police spokesman has said there was ‘definitely no murder’ in the Highfield area of Hemel.

There was an incident, though, as officers from the Local Crime Unit at Hemel Police Station have launched an investigation following concerns about substances found in a garage connected to an address in Highfield.

A 32 year old man from Hemel was arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempting to produce a controlled drug and remains in police custody.

A scene guard has been in place at the property as a precaution.
