Schoolfriends formerly from the Hemel Hempstead School were among around 200 people to take part in the Rennie Grove Midnight Walk 2014

A group of schoolfriends joined hundreds of people who walked through the night to raise money for charity.

Sophie, Natalie, Nicole, Amy and Eve, who have known each other since attending Hemel Hempstead School, joined other pink-clad men and women to tackle the 10-mile route through St Albans.

Sophie said: “We all know people who have been affected by cancer and Natalie used to volunteer at the Grove House in the day hospice, so when we heard about the walk, we immediately decided to take part.”

Rennie Grove events manager Ruth Proudfoot said: ““We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event such a big success.

“All the workers have been fantastic, as have our wonderful volunteers without whom we couldn’t possibly stage the event.”

Sponsorship money is still being collected from the event held last Saturday, but it is estimated the event will have raised in the region of £20,000.
