Help the gym team lift 49,000kg for sick kids

Fancy trying your hand as a weightlifter, and helping to grant wishes for sick children?

Then grab your friends, family members or colleagues and head to The Gym Hemel Hemsptead from May 9 to the 13 to take part in its ‘Lift-athon’ fundraiser.

The staff team are joining forces with colleagues in 29 other UK branches of The Gym to try and lift a combined 49,000kg, to represent the 49,000 terminally or seriously ill children in the UK.

As well as fitness professionals and gym members, members of the public are encouraged to get involved over the five days and lift as many or as few kilograms as they wish.

Everyone taking part is asked to contribute a £3 donation.

All the money raised will be donated to Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity, which grants wishes to children in the UK who are seriously ill.

The charity also buys equipment for the children and supports the hospices, hospitals and specialist schools that care for them.

General manager of The Gym Hemel Hempstead, Melissa Treharne, said: “This is a fantastic way to raise money for children with life-limiting or terminal illnesses.

“Every kilogram lifted will go towards making a wish come true, so even if people only have 10 minutes to spare, I urge them join in and help us raise as much money as possible.”
