Health workers meet new national standards

Herts Community NHS Trust has seen the first of its community healthcare assistants complete the new national Care Certificate.

The care programme has been developed by Skills for Care and Skills for Health in response to the Cavendish Report, which found there was no compulsory or consistent training for healthcare assistants.

The 12-week programme covers 15 subjects, including duty of care, person-centred working, communication, privacy and dignity, fluids and nutrition, mental health awareness, basic life support, moving and handling and infection control.
